"I take this August medium therefore to draw the attention of fellow Nigerians to the bitter truth that the tendency of our leaders to dedicate all their attention to physical development alone over the years, disregarding efforts at attitudinal change has left us with wider roads but narrower viewpoints; more but less sense, more knowledge but less judgment; bigger houses but small families; more conveniences but less time; more experts, yet more problems; more medicine but less wellness.
We planned more but accomplished less. We leant to rush but not to want to take our turn. We attempted to conquer outer space but not inner space. We built taller buildings but acquired shorter tempers, so much so that our apex law-making citizens could resort to exchange blows while at work, instead of ideas"
